Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:
- A policy advisory for Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp has resigned following last week’s arrest. Davis Lundy was arrested after officers smelled marijuana coming from his vehicle. He was charged with simple possession of a schedule six substance, open container, driving under the influence, and one count of violation of implied consent. Officers also found an open bottle of wine while inspecting his vehicle. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
- The Chattanooga Police Department has charged a man with shooting his brother and dumping him off at a local hospital. According to the department, the incident occurred early last month. The victim was able to report the crime when he became conscious after receiving treatment. Marquel Alexander has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm with intent to do harm, possession of a firearm during a felony, and drug possession. (WTVC)
- The Chattanooga Firefighters Association has publicly endorsed Tennessee State Rep. Greg Martin in the House District 26 race. The Association stated in its official statement that the choice to endorse Martin was “an easy one.” According to the Association, Martin has proved his dedication to the community and his character. He is facing Democrat Allison Gorman in the Nov. 8 General Election. (The Chattanoogan)
