Officials of the North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy said they are asking the State Legislature to designate the North Chickamauga Creek Gorge (Waldens Ridge headwaters to Soddy Daisy) a Tennessee State Scenic River.
Officials said, “We have gained support from elected officials and landowners who, like us, believe that North Chickamauga Creek possesses ‘outstanding scenic, recreational, geologic, botanical, fish, wildlife, historic or cultural values’ that the Tennessee State Scenic River Act is designed to protect.”
The group told supporters, “We will see this proposal introduced in the first legislative session of 2023, so be on the lookout for a call for support as the Tennessee legislature takes up this bill.”
