Elvin Gare Stampley, born May 20, 1970, passed away on January 10, 2023, at his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Elvin was a lifelong learner and enjoyed hobbies such as tropical fish aquariums, drawing, music, Sudoku, reading, and racquetball. He graduated with honors from Saint Augustine High School in New Orleans, where he was a member of their state championship track and football teams. He graduated from Tulane University with a BA in Math and Economics, and earned his Master of Business Administration from Loyola University of New Orleans.

While attending Tulane, Elvin was a founding member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He was a member of the Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, and served active duty with the United States Army.

Elvin is survived by his wife, Ellen-Claire Boyance, his two children, Ephraim and Eraste, his parents, Gilbert and Ester Stampley, his sister, Ellene Stampley-Whiley, and her husband, Joseph Whiley, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Elvin was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Venice and Wilda Boyance, his grandparents, Samuel and Julia Stampley and Frank and Geneva Francis.

A memorial will be held in Louisiana at a later date.
