Joseph “Jody” Davenport
Mr. Joseph “Jody” Warren Davenport, 49, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the AdventHealth Gordon.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1974, in Dalton, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Willix.
He worked for over 25 years at Eagle Rock Distribution. He was a 1992 graduate of Dalton High School where he wrestled all four years. He was a member of True North Church. Jody coached multiple baseball, basketball, and football teams for Athens. They won two state championships in football. Jody loved, encouraged, and supported every young man on each team and loved them like his own.
Jody was a gentle soul, who loved life, his friends and especially his family. He will be truly missed by all who know him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Athens Davenport of Calhoun, GA; parents, Shirley Faith Davenport, Rick and Judy Davenport of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, David and Susan Peeler of Ranger, GA; mother of his son, Jennifer Davenport of Calhoun, GA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Joseph “Jody” Warren Davenport will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 3 p.m. from the Ponders Calhoun Chapel with his brother, Reverend David Peeler officiating.
He will be laid to rest on Monday, June 5, at 4 p.m. at Haven of Rest Cemetery with Cody Peeler, Jake Peeler, Jamie Franks, Josh Justice, Michael Wilson, Bly Dillard, Chris Gentry, Anthony Silvers, and Cleve Hall serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Eagle Rock Employees.
The family will receive friends at the Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 11 a.m. until the service hour.
