
Wanda Williams
Wanda Rose Williams, 79, of East Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Williams spent her younger years in Rainsville, Al., before moving to the Chattanooga area over 60 years ago.
She retired from TVA as a switchboard operator after more than 25 years of service.
Mrs. Williams was a member of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church in Rossville, and the ladies circle at the church and most recently attended The Net Church.
While raising her children, she was very active in all of their school activities serving as PTA Chair and President, Cub Scout Leader, and was instrumental in getting new playground equipment at John A. Patton Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jewel Williams; and her sister, Patricia Cordell.
She is survived by her children, Christie (Richard) Elliott, Knoxville; Becky (Chris) Cordell, Ringgold; and Lucious Oliver (Chuck Brown), of East Ridge; three grandchildren, Valarie (Dalton) Woody, Montgomery Alred (Hannah Griffin), and Elijah Elliott; her loving cat, Gray; many nieces, nephews, and loving cousins.
The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice, Leona White, and her cousin, Fredia (Jay) Ham for all of their loving care during Wanda’s illness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 24, in the funeral home chapel with Curtis Ottinger officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Chris Cordell, Richard Elliott, Chuck Brown, Dalton Woody, Elijah Elliott, and Montgomery Alred serving as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 24, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
