Pooler City Council starting discussions on moratorium for short-term vacation rentals – WTOC

POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) – During the Pooler City Council meeting on Monday night, city officials are looking to put a temporary pause in place on new short-term vacation rentals.

The city’s mayor, Karen Williams, said they do not have any codes or regulations about STVR’s at this point.

At Monday’s meeting, a first draft is being put forward for approval, which will be followed by a town hall meeting Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

“Hopefully the council will pass a moratorium preventing new applications from being applied for because we have no regulations on them. It will give staff, staff has told us that they need more time to get this final approved ordinance for the second reading,” Mayor Williams said.

If later passed, Mayor Williams says the moratorium on new STVRs would be set for six months.

There will be a town hall meeting about the potential ordinance Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Pooler City Hall.
