Nine people have applied to the City Council to be appointed as District 8 council member.
They are Randolph Beck, Harold Burke, Jr., Michael Feely, Malarie Marsh, Marie Mott, Marvene Noel, Kenneth Smith, LaFrederick Thirkill, and Armand Wine.
The appointee will serve until an election in August.
The appointee will be free to run in the election.
The seat became open when Anthony Byrd was appointed city court clerk.
Next Tuesday at 3 p.m.
the council will give the nine candidates three minutes each to make a presentation.
Then at the 6 p.m. meeting the council will make a selection and the new council member will be sworn in.
