Annual Downtown Chattanooga Civitan Club Fruitcake Auction … – The Chattanoogan

The Chattanooga Civitan Club’s Fruitcake Auction, held Friday, starring “Little Miss Wheelchair,” raised over $10,000. They also gave $10,000 to local charities.

The auction was led by Tom Heddrick, assisted by Tom Henley and this years’ Club President Catherine Robbins.

Charities each receiving a gift from this 102 year old club were:

– Signal Centers, Inc.;
– Siskin Children’s Institute;
– Orange Grove Center;
– T C Thompson (Children’) Hospital c/o Erlanger Hospital; and
– Ronald MacDonald House.

C. Thompson, one president of this Civitan Club, started a Civitan Foundation that annually also gives mobility and rehabilitation equipment to special needs’ children in the extended neighborhood. This Civitan Foundation seeks references from those in the medical practice for those children needing mobility equipment.

The Civitan Foundation gives away about $90,000 to $100,000 per year to referred children with special needs.

The Chattanooga Civitan Club meets weekly at noon most Fridays at the Masonic Lodge.
