Richard Scott Carver
Richard Scott Carver, 52, of Chattanooga, lost his battle with an extended illness on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at The Health Center at Standifer Place.
Scott was born on Sept. 9, 1970, in Louisville, Ky., to Gary and Sharlon (Davis) Carver. He graduated from Hixson High School in 1989. He worked in retail for many years at Parisians and TJ Maxx. Later, he worked as a chef at The Read House, Southside Grill, and the kitchen at First Baptist Church Chattanooga.
Sports was a big part of Scott’s life. He was a punter for Hixson High School football team, played on basketball and softball teams for First Baptist Church Chattanooga. He was an avid fan for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves. He could remember facts and trivia for sports, history, and politics. However, if you knew Scott then you knew he was enthusiastic about music. He enjoyed playing guitar and you could often hear him singing U2 or Journey songs. Scott was also a talented poet/writer. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His personality and humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Hadley Carver; parents, Gary, and Sharlon Carver; brothers, Chris Carver, and Brad (Amy) Carver; nephew, Brandon Carver; nieces, Katelyn Carver, and Alyssa Carver; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and the family dog, Saban. In keeping with Scott’s wishes, the family will have a private celebration of his life at a future date.
