GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WTGS) — Garden City leaders are looking to add a new short-term vacation rental ordinance for property owners.
Scott Robinder, the city manager, said that there aren’t any existing guidelines specifically for short-term rentals. He said that the ordinance would provide structure for rental properties as the city continues to grow in popularity.

According to Robinder, rental property owners are often not Garden City residents, and they are hard to track down if there are any urgent issues that need to be addressed.
“We had an incident this year that involved an Airbnb that was leased out for a homecoming party,” Robinder said. “It involved over 300 cars being parked on a residential street. There was gunfire. You know, that’s when we realized that we want to promote this type of activity, but it’s got to be done safely.”
Robinder said that a draft ordinance will be available soon for residents to review and respond at a public hearing.
He also said that the city is asking property owners hold off on renting until a new ordinance is put in place.
