Eddie Lee “Coach” Lambert Sr., 75, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the home of his daughter in Rossville, Georgia.

He was a 1965 graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School. He received his B.S. degree in 1970 from Tennessee State University and his Master’s degree in 1976. “Coach” was a member of Phi Beta Sigma, TSSAA, AAU and TSUNNA – Football Alumni Association.  He was a member of New United Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga and Riceville Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Houston, TX.

“Coach” Lambert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lee Lambert and Willie Mae Sellers-Lambert.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Valerie Denise Lambert; son, Eddie (Jennifer Cortes) Lambert, Jr. of Houston, TX; daughters, Chamelle Mitchell of Clarksville, TN and Constance (Adrian) Smith of Rossville, GA; 7 grandchildren, Nianna, Raegan, Cameron, Ashten, Ayva, Kaira, and Anautica; brothers, Charles Lambert of Frankfort, KY and Theodore (Kathleen) Lambert of Camillia, GA; sisters, Betty E. (Larry) Williams of Mobile, AL and Drester F. Lambert of Oakland, CA; a host of nieces and nephews; family close special friends, Virgie Clayton and Jermaine Hawkins; sister-in-law, Lori E. Johnson; several cousins; other relatives and many friends.

“Coach” will lie in state on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Jeffrey T. Wilson as the eulogist.
