Pump Fails Closing Coolidge Park Fountain; May Reopen This … – The Chattanoogan

One of the main pumps on the popular Coolidge Park fountain failed on Friday, leaving four inches of water in the control room below.

Crews spent the weekend pumping out water and drying, and the last couple of days repairing and addressing electrical issues.

Brian Smith of city parks said it hoped to have the fountains open this weekend.

He said, “We also identified an opportunity to upgrade the controller, which could cause the fountains to go down a few days the last week of June during the week. Once installed, this will allow the fountains to run more efficiently and alleviate any problems the rest of the summer.

“We do apologize for the inconvenience as we know the fountains are extremely popular this time of the year.

“We also want to remind friends that the Passage and Aquarium Plaza stream are running great, and our Warner Park Pool ($3) and Carver Pool (free) are open, plus the free splash pad at Shepherd Park off Highway 153.”
