Mariah “Iah” Lynn Scarborough
Mariah “Iah” Lynn Scarborough, 31, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, March 23, 2023, just 29 days before her 32nd birthday.
She was a 2009 graduate of East Ridge High School and a part of the Court for Miss East Ridge.
Iah, as her family and friends called her, was an outgoing, funny and feisty young lady. She could always make you laugh, no matter what mood you were in. She was the type of person who would find the one sitting alone at lunch, or walking the school halls by themselves and become their life long friend.
Iah loved life and tackled it head on. She loved to read, write poetry and books, listen to music, dance and being outdoors. She was our shining star.
She is survived by her mom, Lacey Henson and bonus dad, Todd Henson, her husband, Jacob, precious seven-year old son, Rowen, her two sdoring sisters, Alexxandria Alterio and Maddison O’Neal and her awesome bonus sister, Abigail Henson, grandparents, Larry and Eileen Manley, her great-grandmother, Mary Ella Peoples (who passed one day after Mariah), three adorable nephews, Justin Jauregui, Jakobi O’Neal and Branson O’Neal, special friend, Peter Nguyen, along with an uncle, aunt and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marcia Friel Brewer, grandfather, Stephen Manley and Walter Peoples, great-great-grandparents, Joe and Julia McGhee, and George and Lucille Friel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Camp Jordan, in East Ridge, on Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m. We ask that only colorful clothing be worn to match Mariah’s personality. All of her friends are welcome. There will be no other visitation or funeral services per her wishes.
