Reverend Johnnie Washington Strickland, 87, was born on January 30, 1935, to the late Johnnie Richard and Marie Parks Strickland, in Molena, Georgia. He entered into eternal rest on November 4, 2022 at his residence in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Reverend Strickland was employed with US Pipe Foundry for 43 years. He was the pastor of First Corinthians Baptist Church for 43 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Blanch Flemister Strickland; sons, Johnnie W. Strickland, Jr., and Donald R. Strickland.

Reverend Strickland leaves to cherish his precious memories, two daughters, Vaseline (William) Reed and Johnnie Mae (Harold) Evans; one son, Douglas (Linda) Strickland; one brother, Charlie C. (Shirley) Strickland, Memphis, TN; three sisters, Jerelene King, Chattanooga, Mary Alice Strickland, Molena, GA, Jeanette O’Neal, Zebulon, GA; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

A 12 p.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3777 Wilcox Blvd.

Interment will be in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
