VW Apprentice Graduation 2023

Volkswagen officials recognized the achievements and successful program completion of 12 new graduates of the Volkswagen Academy Robotronics Program Friday.

“These graduates have achieved a high-level qualification that paves the way for a multitude of exciting opportunities,” said Burkhard Ulrich, Volkswagen Chattanooga SVP, human resources. “At Volkswagen, investing in the development of our workforce is paramount to fostering sustainable growth and innovation. We are immensely proud of our graduates, who represent the future of our company and the wider automotive sector.

As they embark on the next chapter of their careers, we look forward to celebrating their future successes.”

The ceremony featured guest speakers State Senator J. Adam Lowe and Rebecca Ashford, president at Chattanooga State Community College.

Michael Ray was named valedictorian for the class of 2023 and delivered a graduation speech.

These recent graduates succeed more than 210 Volkswagen apprentices since 2013. This is the fourth group to graduate from the Robotronics Technology Expert program, which was implemented in 2018 in response to the continuous increase in automation in manufacturing.

Graduates of the program receive a globally recognized Volkswagen Academy certificate, an associate of applied science in mechatronics technology degree with a robotronics certificate from Chattanooga State Community College and a conditional job offer to work for Volkswagen Chattanooga.

Offered exclusively at the Volkswagen Academy, the Robotronics Program is a full-time dual-education program which combines vocational classroom education and paid on-the-job training in one course. The program length is two years.

The Robotronics Program curriculum is based on Industry 4.0 advanced manufacturing principles including robotic technologies, engineering design processes, manufacturing technologies, IT network programming, cyber physical systems and troubleshoot/maintenance.
